What's the difference between Essential Oils (EOs) and Fragrance Oils (FOs)?

Essential Oils (EOs)

Pure essential oils are extracted from many parts of plants (flower, leaf, blossom, petal, resin, tree bark, root, twig, seed, berries, rind and rhizome) Essential oils are natural substances which are extracted via distillation from tiny molecular sacs of each plant. The distillation extracts the volatile oil from the plant part. Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts that contain hormones, vitamins, and antiseptics that work on many levels. They can be 75-100 times more concentrated than dried herbs, depending on the distillation process used. Their volatility can lead to an early breakdown of their characteristic aroma. That is why sometimes essential oils don't keep their smell for long.

Fragrance Oils (FOs)

Fragrance oils are for the most parts synthetic compounds and do not contain any of the therapeutic qualities of essential oils. But they just smell wonderful, and for the most part hold their scent longer. I choose only the highest quality, skin safe fragrances available.
